In this lesson students will explore the abstract and expressive techniques of Pablo Picasso to create a layered self-portrait using recycled cardboard. They will develop an understanding of distortion, shape, and texture to represent emotion and personality, while experimenting with composition and structure. Through tracing, cutting, and assembling, students will explore how form and placement affect meaning in portraiture.
