In this lesson students will explore tone, texture, and expressive portraiture through exploring the unique style of Margaret Keane, known for her distinctive \"big eye\" portraits. They will identify different expressions and emotions within her portraits and how they have been achieved. Students will experiment with graphite pencils to learn about tonal range and will use blending tools and techniques to create tonal depth. They will use these techniques and tools to create expression and emotion in their ‘big eyes’ inspired portrait.
