In this lesson students will explore and experiment with the elements of colour, shape and composition to create a craft foam print inspired by the work of Henri Matisse. Students will use collaging skills to create their craft foam printing plate which they will use to create their print. They will investigate and use Matisse’s ‘drawing with scissors’ technique to create organic shapes with curved and straight edges. They will consider how to create balance within their print through playing with the composition of their shapes and by utilising negative space on their printing plate.
