In this lesson students will explore shape, colour, line, and texture while creating a large-scale 2D Takashi Murakami-inspired flower. Drawing inspiration from Murakami’s 'Flowers with Smiling Faces,' students will analyze features and symmetry in his works. They'll identify and describe unique petal shapes, leading to their own symmetrical petal template. Students will then incorporate line and texture, using texture rubbing plates, crayons, pastels, pencils, paper, pipe cleaners, and cardboard to craft their own Murakami-inspired flower.
