In this lesson students will explore colour, shape, line, and balance while creating a paper sculpture inspired by the artist Alexander Calder. Students will delve into Calder's style and his use of colour and shape before crafting a Calder-inspired 2D artwork on cartridge paper. Subsequently, they will transform this paper into a sculpture by folding and cutting it to achieve symmetry, and by adding folding tabs to enable it to stand independently.
